Tom Remon

A graduate of Middlesex University and alumni of Tomorrow’s Warriors (mentored by Biker Golding), guitarist Tom Remon tours widely, collaborating with a wide range of musicians, including pianist Alex Ho, drummer David Lyttle and trumpeter Neil Yates. In 2021 Tom released a guitar duo album with the legendary Jim Mullen and in 2024 extended invitations to established American guitarists Sid Jacobs and John Stowell to tour the UK. Tom is delighted to be making his Lit & Phil debut in the company of his friend and fellow guitarist Tony Ormesher.

Tony Ormesher

A graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Tony Ormesher is a core member of Manchester’s Magic Hat Ensemble. The Weave (Liverpool) is another high profile commitment, in addition to regular jazz club engagements working across the spectrum, from swing to bebop to contemporary settings. This Lit & Phil concert will hold broad appeal, both for the jazz guitar aficionado and those who enjoy listening to virtuoso musicians performing in the intimate setting here in the Loftus Room.

From Dick McDonough and Carl Kress (1930s) to Herb Ellis and Joe Pass (1970s) to the present day partnership of James Birkett and Bradley Johnston, the jazz guitar duo is an enduring format. Tom Remon and Tony Ormesher are set to follow in the tradition.
